Dear Ms. Price,
At the Board's June 19, 2012 regular meeting, you brought forth a petition on behalf of the
Commission for the Environment in the form of a resolution and it was reviewed by the
ChairNice Chair/Manager at agenda review:
1) This resolution urged the Orange County Board of County Commissioners to set
forth and enforce such measures and provisions that will protect public health and
lands in the event that horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing activities are
planned or conducted in or adjacent to Orange County,
After review of this petition, the ChairNice Chair/Manager have directed staff to do the
following:
1) To share with Ms. Price, and ask her to share with the Commission for the
Environment, the County Attorney's comment that anyone can send comments to
the appropriate staff at NCACC in reference to 2012 Senate Bill 820 and that
Orange County had already adopted a similar resolution.
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the September 18, 2012 agenda
for public information.
