Dear Commissioners,
Information Item
At the Board's May 15, 2012 regular meeting, Commissioner Jacobs brought forth a petition
and it was reviewed by the Chair/Vice Chair /Manager at agenda review:
1) Review and discuss ways to support the goals of the NC 10% Campaign, possible
with a Board resolution, and ways to implement the goals of the NC 10%
Campaign within County government.
After review of this petition, the Chair/Vice Chair /Manager have directed staff to do the
following:
1) Bring back an official resolution in the fall in reference to supporting the goals of the
NC 10% Campaign
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the June 5, 2012 agenda for
public information.

At the Board's May 15, 2012 regular meeting, Mr. Hank Elkins, who was representing the
Partnership to End Homelessness, brought forth a petition and it was reviewed by the
ChairNice Chair /Manager at agenda review:
1) Review and consider a proposal from Mr. Elkins asking that the Board of
Commissioners' revise the county employee recruitment/application process to
delay and /or possible eliminate asking questions of applicants regarding criminal
history
After review of this petition, the Chair/Vice Chair /Manager provided the following:
1) To indicate that the Board supports the "ban the box" proposal and will direct staff
to revise the current employment application to exclude the "box" (the question
about criminal history) in the initial application process; and to bring this item back
for formal approval in the fall 2012.
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the June 5, 2012 agenda for
public information.

At the Board's May 15, 2012 regular meeting, Commissioner Jacobs brought forth a petition
and it was reviewed by the Chair/Vice Chair /Manager at agenda review:
1) Review and consider a proposal for the Board to receive a presentation on the May
8, 2012 election, including comparisons with other counties on early voting,
confusion with congressional /legislative districts, etc.
After review of this petition, the ChairNice Chair /Manager have directed staff to do the
following:
1) Director of Elections, Tracy Reams, will provide a written report for the June 19,
2012 Commissioners' meeting ( Information Item)

Information Item
At the Board's May 15, 2012 regular meeting, Commissioner Jacobs brought forth a petition
and it was reviewed by the Chair/Vice Chair /Manager at agenda review:
1) Review and consider a proposal to ask that the Board ask county staff to work with
the Town of Hillsborough staff to develop a joint resolution and maps to identify
and protect archeological and cultural significant locations within the town from
disturbance /signage /etc.
After review of this petition, the Chair/Vice Chair /Manager have provided the following
direction:
1) Chair Pelissier will transmit a letter to Mayor Stevens asking if the Town is
interested in a joint effort as proposed by Commissioner Jacobs and ask that both
county and town staffs work to identify /preserve these archeological and cultural
sites.
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the June 5, 2012 agenda for
Public information.
