Orange County Agricultural Preservation Board
PO Box 8181, Hillsborough, NC 27278
April 20, 2012
Bernadette Pelissier, Chair
Board of County Commissioners
PO Box 8181
Hillsborough, NC 27278
Re: Board Appointments
Dear Chair Pelissier:
The Orange County Agricultural Preservation Board (APB) recommends that
Howard McAdams (recently elected co-chair) and Joe Thompson be appointed
to serve a second term on the APB. Both complete their first full terms on June 30,
2012. Both have served important roles on the APB in their initial terms and have
been regular attendees (Mr. Thompson was absent for several meetings due to
illness).
Additionally, the APB recommends that Renee McPherson be appointed to serve
in the Cane Creek/Buckhorn Voluntary Agricultural District seat, by virtue of her
application and the approval of her farm as a Voluntary Agricultural District
participating farm, which the BOCC approved on April 17, 2012.
Members Patrick McGarry and Spence Dickinson complete their second terms on
June 30, 2012, making their seats vacant. The APB is currently reviewing applicants
to the Board and will have a recommendation for appointment(s) in the near future.
The APB thanks Mr. McGarry and Mr. Dickinson for their years of service.
Thank you for consideration of these appointments.
(On behalf of the APB)
Sincerely,
David Stancil
Director, Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation
