ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT TO THE MENTAL HEALTH
ASSOCIATION IN ORANGE COUNTY AS THEY ENDEAVOR TO
ESTABLISH A NEW GROUP HOME FOR ADULTS WITH MENTAL
ILLNESS
WHEREAS, the Mental Health Association in Orange County (MHA/OC) includes as
part of its mission the initiation of housing resources for people with mental illness; and
WHEREAS, the Mental Health Association in North Carolina assists its affiliates with
application to HUD for Section 8-11 funds for the construction of group homes for adults
with mental illness; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Mental Health provides operational costs for said homes;
and
WHEREAS, the management team of OPC Area Program has indicated its desire to
administer a new group home in Orange County and supplement operational costs; and
WHEREAS, the MHA/OC has requested the Board of County Commissioners pledge its
support of this housing endeavor;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Orange County Board of
Commissioners that, by approval of this resolution, the Board supports the application
to HUD for funds to build a new group home in Northern Orange County for adults with
mental illness.
