RESOLUTION HONORING MARCIA ARGO, AN ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS
ELEMENTARY TEACHER, ON HER APPROXIMATELY FIFTY YEARS OF
SERVICE IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION
WHEREAS, Marcia Argo, an Orange County Schools teacher at Efland-Cheeks Elementary
School, has served approximately fifty (50) years in the field of education; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Argo retired from State of Georgia Public School Systems in 1985 after more
than 33 years of instructional service and has since served Orange County Schools, including
the last 13 years in a teaching position at Efland-Cheeks Elementary; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Argo pursued and received an undergraduate degree from Piedmont College
in northeast Georgia, a Masters of Education from the University of Georgia, a 6th year Degree
of Education from the University of Georgia, and completed coursework toward a Doctorate, all
while raising a family of three daughters; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Argo achieved Life Certification in Education from the State of Georgia, has
pursued continuing education and rigorously maintained her re-certification, and continues to
teach and voluntarily tutor today's youth beyond the classroom hours to ensure that students
progress toward their goals;
NOW THEREFORE, do we, the Board of Commissioners for Orange County, North Carolina
hereby recognize and honor Mrs. Marcia Argo for her many years of dedication and service to
the education of youth in the State of Georgia and here in Orange County, and express our
appreciation to her for her efforts in support of the educational needs of students in Orange
County.
