Dear Commissioners,
At the Board's February 21, 2012 regular meeting, Chair Pelissier brought forth a petition and
it was reviewed by the Chair/Vice Chair/Manager at agenda review:
1) Review and consider asking Judge Buckner to make a presentation to the Board
on potential steps to reduce jail overcrowding/population as the County reviews the
Capital Investment Plan and potential jail expansion.
After review of this petition, the ChairNice Chair/Manager have directed staff to do the
following: _
1) The Clerk to the Board will contact Judge Buckner ( and it was suggested that it
would be beneficial to also invite Sheriff Pendergrass as an interested party) to
share this request with both of them and to schedule a time for them to make a
presentation to the Board in the Fall 2012.
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the March 13, 2012 agenda for
public information.
