The Honrdmet et the usual hour in the Commissioner's Room at the Court-
house. Present: Collier Cobb, Jr., Chairman, Hen F. V81son and P.ubert G. Laws,
Commissioners.

Lir. J. lY. Soerrow of Chanel Hill, appeared before the Board and reoor tad
Hr ady's Tavern was allowing a lot of dr lnkSng end disorderly conduct on his
premises which wnae disturbing poopls who lived: close by from their rest at
night.
It was brought to the atten t].on of the Board that a mixed term of the
Superior Court of Or ¢nge Covntywas scheduled to convene on Juno 9, 1947,
and that due to the recent establishment of a County Recorder's Court there
only a small number of cases which would ba for trf al during the said term;
that the Honorable W. H. tturdock, Sollci for of the Tenth Judi ci sl District,
had recommended that the said term of court ba called off end cancelled.

ernor a copy of this resclution.

Upon motion of Commissioner !Yils on, duly seconded by Commissioner Lsws,
it Sa hereby ordered that the salaries of Recorder's Court Officials be paid
out of costs collected for the remainder oP this fiscal year.

After calling the mooting to order end of for the Clerk had celled the roll

election held June 10, 1947.

BE IT HESOLVE'D by the Hoard of Commissioners for the County of Orange:
Section 1. Thst the returns of the sae cl al 'pond election held June lU,
1947 having been received from the proper election officers find the Do erd hav
c nnvnssed the same, the following facts are hereby found and determined:
(a) That aecn registrar end fudge for the special bond electron hold 1n
County of Orange on Juna lU, 1947 was duly cualii'ied by 1¢w and had taken the

Section 3. That no complaints have boon made to this Board agalrst the
regul¢rity of such election, and that this eonrd believes that such Bloc ti on
urea conducted in full accordance w3 th lavr and with the orders of this Board.
Section 4. That from the canvass so made by this Hoard it is determined.
(a) That 8600 voters were regis tared and qualified to vote.
(b) That at said election 1399 vo tea were cast for the bond order nuth••
or izing not exceeding yB10, 000 School Building Bonds of Urnnge County for the
!! purpose of erac ting a new school building, and remodeling and eructing addi tione
! to existing school bssildinga, end acduiring necessary equipment therefor, ¢nd al
tae for said bonds, and 1764 votes were cast against said bond order, and that
¢ mafority of ell the aualif ied voters of the County of Grange voting et such
election vo tad not in favor of said bond order, and that said bond order rras
thereby not approved and is not in force end eifec t.
(c) That at said ela ctlon 1324 vo tae were cast for the bond order author~~-
lzing not exceeding a°°,150,000 Cbvnty Building Bonds of Or enge County for the
purpose of acquiring a site ¢nd building an of flee building to provide seats for
the Board of Educnti on, +~e if are Depertme nt, Health Department, Tar. Colloc tor,
Auditor end other officers and Sssnetions o; said County, and a tax for said
bonds, and 1771 vc tae were cast against said bond order, and that a majority
of all the gvallf ied voters oi' the County ai Orange voting at such election
voted not in favor of anid bond order, and that said bond order was thereby not
annr ovad and is not Sn force and effect.
(d) That et said election 1313 votes were cast for the bond order
authorizing not exceeding x85,000 Courthouse Bonds of Orange Cormty for the
purpose of remodeling the County Covr thous e, ¢nd a tax Sor said bonds, and 1791
vo tea were cast against sa1,d bond order, and that e m¢,jor ity of all the qua lif3e.
vo tare of the County of Orange voting at each slat tien voted not in favor of sei~
bond order, and thnt said bond order was llhereby not eporoved and is not in
force and effect.
Upon motion of" Cortmiesioner Zaws, seconded by Commissioner lvile on, the
f era gel ng resolution entitled "Reaolu tion canvassing the returns of the apeciel
bond election held June 10, 1.947 and determining the result thereof" was passed
by the following vote:
Ayes: Commisalnners Collier Cobb, Jr ., H. G. Lewe and
Ben N'. Y7ile on.
Noes: None
In compliance with the laws of ?;or th Carolina which requires that
the Jury Hox be revised each tyro ye ers, the Clark to this Board presented a
list of tax payers and other ci tl zena.
Af tar carefully checking this list and eliminating those incapable
of ,Tory service, the Hord ordered the Clerk to nlfics names in Jury Sox num-
ber 1.
