HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES-2011-108 Resolution of Appreciation for The Herald-Sun/The Chapel Hill Herald and Publisher Rick Bean/.~, ~ ~3 ~ ~o ! t ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ~~ Resolution of Appreciation for The Herald-Sun/The Chapel Hill Herald and Publisher Rick Bean WHEREAS, beginning with its January 2, 2011 edition, The Herald-Sun, The Chapel Hill Herald edition, launched the first of fifty-two (52) advertisements focusing on Orange County as a great place to live, work, play and visit; and WHEREAS, since the campaign started, the calls and inquiries to the Orange County Visitors Bureau (a partner in the campaign) have substantially increased with residents and visitors requesting more information on Orange County; and WHEREAS, The Herald-Sun is a leading newspaper in the State, having won numerous awards with the North Carolina Press Association; and WHEREAS, The Herald-Sun and publisher Rick Bean have donated full page, four-color ads in the Sunday editions to Orange County; and WHEREAS, The Herald-Sun and Mr. Bean have demonstrated great care and respect for Orange County by taking media leadership in sharing Orange County's proud history and current accomplishments; and WHEREAS, this campaign has touted Orange County's medical facilities, public health programs, seniors, and social services as well as Orange County's commitment to historic preservation, schools, agriculture, and clean water, as examples; and WHEREAS, this partnership between the County and The Herald-Sun newspaper has given residents and visitors 52 weeks of proof that Orange County is a leading county in North Carolina; NOW THEREFORE we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby express our appreciation and gratitude to The Herald-Sun/The Chapel Hill Herald and Publisher Rick Bean for the 52-week Orange County campaign heralding the quality of life and pride of Orange County through a robust, colorful engaging advertising series and thank Mr. Bean and The Herald-Sun for their devotion to the people, pride and sense of place in Orange County, North Carolina.
