PURPOSE: To approve various intergovernmental agreements.
BACKGROUND: The Board directed that it review all intergovernmental agreements. Provided
below is a list of Agreements and brief synopsis of each that have been reviewed by the County
Attorney's Office and staff is asking the Board to approve.
1. Parties to the Proposal: University of North Carolina Hospitals ("UNCH") and
Orange County (Department of Social Services). This is an annual contract.
a. Services: The County will provide an Income Maintenance Caseworker and a
part-time supervisor to UNCH to perform intake and processing for Medicaid
claims. UNCH will reimburse for the County's share of the salary, benefits and
indirect costs for both the Income Maintenance Caseworker and the supervisor.
b. Amount: The total amount the County will receive is $49,587.
2. Parties to the Proposal: UNC Hospitals and Orange County (Health Department)
a. Services: UNC Hospitals will develop, facilitate, and evaluate five professional
interpreter workshops (two hours in duration each) for local interpreters from
Burma.
b. Amount: The total cost is not to exceed $2,000.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impact is listed in each section above.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board authorize the County
Manager to sign the above listed agreements and any amendments or renewals of those
Agreements.
