Recreation and Parks Facilities- Greenway Development
Capital Project Ordinance
Be it ordained by the Orange County Board of County.:Commissioners that pursuant to
Section 13.2 of Chapter 159 of the General Statutes- of North Carolina, the following _
.capital. project is hereby adopted.
Section 1. The project authorized provides funds to extend un-built portions of the
Chapel Hill and Carrboro greenway systems in a fashion to' provide future
_ connections to Town and County parks and other. open space networks.
Funds would be used specifically .for trail construction and some land _
acquisition, as needed: Proceeds from the 2001 -voter approved bond
referendum finance the project. ~ -
Section 2. The officers of the County -are hereby directed to proceed with the project
within the budget contained herein.
Section 3. The following revenue is anticipated to complete this project:

Section 7. _ This ordinance shall be in effect from the original date of adoption, March
24, 2003 until June 30, 2005..
Adopted this 24~' day of March 2003.

The Board reappointed Rob Golan and. Ms. Dale: Georgiade, both at-large::
positions, for second terms to expire March 31 2006.
(4) Information Technology Advisory Committee
The Board reappointed John Smith and Doug Noell, both at=large positions., for
second terms to expire December 31, 20!05...
(5j Orange County Planning Board
The Board. reappointed Ted Triebel to a second term as the Liftle River
Townships representative, with a term expiration. date of March 31, 2006;:. Noah
Ranells o a first full term asan at-large representative, with a term expiration date of
March 31;., 200fi; and Jay Bryan, Ghair, to a first full term as Chapel Hill- Township<
position, with a term expiration date of March 31, 2006:.
(6) Recreation and Parks Advisory Council
The Board reappointed Lorraine Parker to: a second term #o expire: March 31,

c. Jail Inspection Resort
The Board recenred the jail inspection report for January 8,_:.2003 from!. the North:
Carolina Department<of Health and' Human Services-:and the Manager's
Recommendation states that corrective action is being taken as required...
d. Hold Harmless. Letter-for Firearms Trai-Wing
The Board approved the attached Hold Harm ess letter with. the City of Burling#on
and Alamance Community College,; and: authorized the Chair to sign on behalf of the
Board, and directed the Managerto forward the letterto the City of Burlington and`
Alamance Gammunity College.
e. BudgetAmendment#9
The Board approved :approving budget ordinance amendments and capital project
ordinances for fiscal year 20p2-03 for Register of Deeds, Department of Social
Services, Department on Aging; Library Services, Non-Departmental, Cooperative
Extension., Housing and Community Development, and Bond and Alternat'iye
Financing Capital Project Ordinances.
f. Proaosed Land Donation from The Nature Conservancy
The Board approved the donation of a 1`0-acre tract in:Cedar Grove Township from:.:
The Nature Conservancy for future ,protection as a County nature .preserve through
tF~e Lands Legacy Program and authorized the ,ERCD to work with The: Nature
Conservancy and the County Attorney to ;prepare a deed for'<the transfer of the
subject propertyto Orange County.:
