Tha Board met at the usual hour in the Commissioners Room at the Court-
house: Present, Colllar Cobb, Jr., Chairman, Hen P. t9ilson and Hubert G.

Lsr. Matheson stated that tobacco nr roes were on the downward trend but was
still holding its own bs tter ther. other farm commodities, He also stated that

farmers would be able to get a very good quasi ty o1' both.
tfr. Barnes talked on the corn contest held in the county this year end
stated that .this 'doxftaet showed that much higher yields could be acccmplis had
by the use of hybred seed corn and bettor far tilizatlon. He also stated that
the Or anga County 4H members won several flrst and second prizes at the North
Carolina State Fair.
tAr. P. H. Johns, ;Orange County Fire Narden, appeared and talked relative
to the purchase of a si to for t:±e ersctlon of a tower. He stated that the

IIpon motion of Commissioner 1711son, duly seconded by Commissioner Laws,
the following resolution was unanimously ndopte d:
RESOLVED that an annropr latl on of SEVENTY EIG?iT ASR) 77/100 DOLLARS be
granted the Chapel Eill Special Charter District, which is sx nn addition
to the FOiSZi TEEN THO*JSAND T470 HDNDRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS heretofore appropriated
in this fiscal year for the addition of two class rooms at the Orange County
T4•a fining School.
The following ro¢d petition was upon motion, approved anc ordered sent to
the lror th Carolina State Highway end Public Norks Commission.
