Parks ~: l~~ecreation MEMORANDUM TO: Donna Baker, Clerk to the Board of Commissioners FROM: David Stanch, Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks & Recreation Director DATE: February 16, 2011 SUBJECT: Recommendation for Reappointment to the Historic Preservation Commission Statler Gilfillen, member of the Orange County Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is approaching the end of his first partial term. The Historic Preservation Commission participates in the Certified Local Government proaram. All HPC members must have personal, professional and/or organization experience related to historic preservation. Examples of appropriate professions include: architect, historian, architectural historian, archaeologist, landscape architect, planner, anthropologist, curator, conservationist, or folklorist, or other activities that are related to historic preservation. Members must also reside in Orange County's planning jurisdiction. Mr. Gilfillen's Knowledge in architecture, architectural history and his previous experience on a historic preservation commission has provided the HPC with a,fnore well rounded preservation board. He has maintained good attendance records (see enclosure) and would like to continue to serve on the HPC. Please convey this to the Board of Commissioners for their earliest consideration, to prevent any gaps in our membership. The HPC will continue its recruitment efforts to bring in new candidates who meet the Certified Local Government criteria.
