BACKGROUND: The Southern Orange Senior Center Design Committee has met several times and has decided upon an architect. It has come to the attention of the BOCC that, a citizen, Mr. Lee Pavao has expressed an interest in serving on this committee. Mr. Pavao helped find and design the current location of the Senior Center at the Galleria. His skills and expertise will be very useful during the design process. Mr. Pavao is willing and eligible for appointment. If the BOCC decides to appoint Mr. Pavao, an additional At-Large seat wilt need to be made. Charge: The Committee will assist designers in interpreting the needs assessment information that will be presented and approved by the Board of County Commissioners prior to the commencement of the design process. The Committee will assist as may be needed in public information initiatives that may occur during the design/construction .process; and it will recommend the final plan for the Southern Orange Senior Center to the County Commissioners for approval prior to bidding of the project. In addition, the Committee will assist in planning an event celebrating the opening of the Center in 2006. A subgroup of the Committee will participate in the architect selection process. Original composition: The composition of the Design Committee was approved by the BOCC as follows on December 9, 2003, as outlined below. Also, the Chair of the Advisory Board on Aging appointed a Special Committee to review all the applicants for the Design Committee. The Special Board Committee was composed of the leadership of the Aging Board (Chair, Vice- Chair, past-Chair) and long-time board member representative, Mariah McPherson.
