HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19450815lSnutes of the Board of Coors is si opera ,~~~f Avgust 15, 1945 The Hoard oP Commis szonere of Orange County held a special meeting in the Cone Building in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on the 15th day oY August, 19x5, at H:CO o'clock p. s., meeting .Jointly wit:: the Board oP Educet ion of Orange County and the Hoard oY Trustees oP the Chapel Hi11,North Carolina City Adminis trative Unit. The members of the Hoard present were Collier Cobb, H. G. Laws end Hen F. Wilson, this being all of the members of the Board, The meeting was called to order by the Chairmen, Collier Cobb, and the Chhirmen stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider the proposed bids for the Chapel Hill High School building nr o,j act. The Chairman then recognized Dr. Coker of the Hoard of Trustees oP the Chapel HS11,North Carolina City Administrative Unit, and it was learned that the lowest bid suB- mitted for the new building prole et eras apnroximetely S1a5, 000. A general discussion was held "oetween all the members of the respective Hoards and the Architect, itr, }yeeka. Since the said bid s': ae considerably higher than had been antici- pated, and since the Hoard of Commissioners had allocated in its 'oudget the sum of 5110,000 for this nroJ act, and since the members oY the Board felt that due to the close of the war that the advertising Yor new bide within the next Yew months would result in loner bids, the Hoard, after considering the remerka of the members of the trio other boards nres ant, felt it vrould be to the "best interest of the Chao el Hill City Administrative Unit end Orange County that the oide ea already made be re.J acted. Therefore, upon motion oP Commis 6moner Lawe, duly seconded by Commissioner Nilson, the foL owing resolution was unanimously edon tad: REHOLVED, That the Hoard of Commissioners of Orange County do norr recommend to the Board of Trustees of the Chapel ?fill, North ~Cer clips City Administrative Unit to re,tect any and ell bids heretofore made ae to the nronos ed building project Por the Chanel H111 High School, rvi th the Yurther recommendation that the said Board oY Trustees readvertise for nevr bide at such time as conditions will warrant, "out in time eo the building shall be com- nleted by September 1, 19?6.
