ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION (NCDOT) ABANDON A 0.27-MILE PORTION OF SR 1571,
PLEASANT GREEN COMMUNITY CENTER ROAD, FROM THE STATE
MAINTAINED SYSTEM
WHEREAS, property owners on SR 1571, Pleasant Green Community Center
Road, have petitioned the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to
abandon from the State Maintained System a 0.27-mile portion of SR 1571, Pleasant
Green Community Center Road; and
WHEREAS, the NCDOT Division of Highways has performed a Secondary Road
Abandonment Investigation Report and has recommended partial abandonment; and
WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute § 136-63 provides that the board
of county commissioners of any county may, on its own motion or on petition of a group
of citizens, request the Board of Transportation to change or abandon any road in the
secondary system when the best interest of the people of the
county will be served .thereby;
-NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of
Commissioners that the Board finds that partial abandonment of SR 1571, Pleasant
Green Community Center Road, is in the best interest of the people of Orange County
and the Board requests that the NCDOT abandon a 0.27-mile portion of SR 1571 from
the State Maintained System by directing the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners to
forward a copy of this Resolution and a copy of the Secondary Road Abandonment
Investigation Report to the North Carolina Department of Transportation District
Engineer.
