HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation Honoring the Community School for People Under Six on its 40th Anniversary Pi4F /0/,4 17010 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PROCLAMATION HONORING THE COMMUNITY SCHOOL FOR PEOPLE UNDER SIX ON ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY WHEREAS, the Community School for People under Six was originally established in September 1970 as a parent/staff cooperative; and WHEREAS, the Community School for People under Six is a non-profit, 5 star licensed, NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accredited child care center with a multicultural community-based philosophy; and serves children and families in Chapel Hill and the surrounding area; and WHEREAS, the mission of the School is to provide high quality early care and education for all children, specifically low and middle income families; and WHEREAS, the school promotes cultural, racial, gender and socioeconomic diversity among families, staff and board directors; and WHEREAS, these teachers and others who make a difference in the lives of young children in Orange County deserve thanks and recognition; and WHEREAS, the Community School for People under Six will be celebrating a 40th anniversary milestone on October 25, 2011; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby adopt this Proclamation honoring the Community School for People under Six for its outstanding contribution to the early childhood education of so many young people in Orange County over the past 40 years.
