ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ~ ~
RESOLUTION ON
TRIANGLE REGION COMMUNITY TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, Community transportation systems are expected to provide safe,
efficient and effective transportation services, with as little
duplication as possible; and
WHEREAS, The North Carolina Department of Transportation is committed to
working with the counties of Durham, Orange and Wake to
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their community
transportation systems and to help provide increased mobility
options for access to employment, education, medical and
general transportation; and
WHEREAS, The North Carolina Department of Transportation will pay for the
cost of a consultant to complete a Triangle Region Community
Transportation Development Plan; and
WHEREAS, The purpose of the Triangle Region Community Transportation
Development Plan is to identify opportunities for regionalizing
services among the community transportation systems in
Durham, Orange and Wake Counties and with urban and
regional paratransit systems in the Triangle; and
WHEREAS, Orange County will provide the staff resources and support as
needed to participate in the development of the Triangle Region
Community Transportation Development Plan; and
WHEREAS, Orange County will consider recommendations in the Triangle
Region Community Transportation Development Plan when
making future decisions concerning its community transportation
system; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of
Commissioners that Orange County wishes to participate in the
development of the Triangle Region Community Transportation
Development Plan with the counties of Durham and Wake.
Adopted this the 19th day of April 2005.
