Purpose:
To present checks to local artists and arts organizations receiving Orange County Arts
Commission Grants.
Background:
The Orange County Arts Commission awazds up to $1000.00 in matching funds to artists and arts
organizations for arts projects and events taking place in Orange County between January 1 and
June 30, 1998. These grants aze used to support programs in the visual, performing, and literary
arts. Funded projects include theater performances, art exhibits, writers' conferences, children's
arts and crafts, programs for seniors, and outdoor concerts, each to benefit Orange County
citizens.
Orange County Arts Commission Grants, which are county funded and limited to $1,000 or less,
differ from the "Grassroots Grants" awarded at a previous meeting in that Orange County acts as
a Designated County Partner with the State to provide funds for Grassroots Grants.
Recommendation:
The Manager recommends that the Boazd of County Commissioners acknowledge the local
recipients of the awazds during the January 20, 1998 meeting with the presentation of checks by
the Boazd Chair, Mazgazet Brown.
