PURPOSE: To consider awarding a bid to Warren-Hay Mechanical Contractor for
replacement of the heating and air conditioning system (HVAC) system in the
Government Services Center Annex.
BACKGROUND: Funds are included in the current Capital Improvements Plan for the
replacement of the HVAC system in the Government Services Center Annex. This work
was not included in the 1992 renovations.
The work consists of replacing all HVAC equipment in the building including controls.
Much of the ductwork will be re-routed and new ducts installed.
Bids were solicited on December 2, 1997 with three firms responding. A tabulation is
attached.
Warren-Hay Mechanical is the apparent low bidder with $99,900. The mechanical
engineer for the project had determined that the bid is in compliance with specifications.
The bidder meets all criteria for bid award, including the ability to produce a quality
product within the time frame established for the work.
RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the bid for HVAC system
replacement at the Government Services Center Annex be awarded to Warren-Hay
Mechanical for a price not exceed $99,900; and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of
the Board, contingent upon the appropriate reviews.
