A PROCLAMATION
SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK
February 22 -28,1998

WHEREAS, Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. has proclaimed the week of February 22
through 28,1998, as Severe Weather Awareness Week, and
WHEREAS, Orange County is vulnerable to severe weather, including the
devastation of tornadoes, and
WHEREAS, Tornadoes occur in North Carolina each year, and
WHEREAS, The need for citizens to learn more about tornadoes and
how to protect themselves should be emphasized, NOW
THEREFORE, The Board of County Commissioners hereby designate the
week of February 22 through 28,1998, as Severe Weather
Awareness Week, and encourage all citizens to learn more about
tornadoes and be aware of the dangers of severe weather,
especially during the spring season.
Adopted this 17th day of February, 1998.
