PURPOSE: To receive status reports from the two school systems on their respective new school
construction projects.
BACKGROUND: Both school systems have new schools in the planning and/or construction
stages. The Orange County Schools are planning for a new elementary school and a new high
school. The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools are building a new elementary school and an addition at
East Chapel Hill High, and are planning a new middle school.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the reports as
information.
