Purpose: To consider approving the recommended salary of Salary Grade
80, Step 8C, $73,153 for Orange County Health Director.
Background: The Orange County Board of Health has completed its search
for a new Health Director. At its May 21, 1998 meeting the
Board of Health decided to offer appointment as Health Director
to Dr. Rosemary Summers, currently Interim Health Director.
The Board of Health's May 21 action to appoint Dr. Summers
was contingent on Dr. Summers acceptance of the appointment
and Board of County Commissioners approval of the
recommended salary of Salary Grade 80, Step 8C, $73,153. Dr.
Summers has indicated she will accept the appointment subject
to Board of Commissioners' approval of the recommended
salary.
Dr. Summers holds a masters and doctoral degree in public
health from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
School of Public Health. She has approximately 21 years
experience in the field of public health.
Recommendation: The Manager recommends the Board approve the
recommended salary of Salary Grade 80, Step 8C, $73,153.
