HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19860618~a4a MINUTES ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CONTINUED MEETING FROM 6/17/86 JUNE 18, 1986 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in continued session on June 18, 1986, 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room at Lincoln Center, Carrboro, North Carolina. BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Don Willhoit and Commissioners Shirley Marshall, Moses Carey, Ben Lloyd and Norman Walker. STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Kenneth R. Thompson, Assistant County Manager Albert Kittrell, Director of Finance Gordon Baker, Purchasing Director Pam Jones, Budget Analyst Donna Wagner and Director of Personnel Beverly Whitehead. APPOINTMENTS ABC BOARD Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, Seconded by Commissioner Marshall to reappoint Mary Howes to the ABC Board. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. COMMISSION FOR WOMEN Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner Marshall to reappoint Sally Mars hall, Ev a Metzger and Miriam Saxon and to appoint Eva Pierce Clontz and Velma M. Ferrell to the Commission for women. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Motion was made by Commissioner Lloyd, seconded by Commissioner Carey to reappoint John Gastineau and Paul Williams and appoint Lynn Wilson to the Economic Development Commission. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. BOARD OF HEALTH Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner Marshall to reappoint Dr. Philip Singer and Dr. Eugene Howden to the Board of Health. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner willhait to reappoint Shirley Marshall to the Board of Social Services. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS BOARD Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner Marshall to reappoint Shirley Marshall, Lula Mae Cotton and Rev. Richard Hildebrandt and to appoint Catherine Peele to the County Senior Citizens Board. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. DOMICILIARY HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded by Commissioner Carey to reappoint Maggie Lee and Linda Rahija to the Domiciliary Home Community Advisory Committee. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. 2048 HEALTH AND MEDICAL CARE ADVISORY BOARD Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner Lloyd to reappoint Kenneth Strayhorn to the Health and Medical Care Advisory Board. VOTE: UNANIMDUS. NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded by Commissioner Carey to reappoint Sally Jeanne Marshall and Zelda Moore tc the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. TRIANGLE J EMS COUNCIL Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded b~ Commissioner Carey to reappoint Jeanette T. Smith and Dr. Alfred Hamer. to the Triangle J EMS Council. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. RECREATION AND PARKS ADVISORY COUNCIL Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded b~ Commissioner Carey to appoint David Smudski and Alice Pelland to the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. SOLID WASTE TASK FORCE Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded b~ Commissioner Marshall to appoint Larry Reid to the Solid Waste Tash Force. VOTE: UNANIMOUS. ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING BOARD Commissioner Lloyd nominated Richard Roberts. Commissioner Carey nominated Prince Taylor. VOTE: RICHARD ROBERTS - COMMISSIONERS LLOYD AND WALKER. PRINCE TAYLOR - COMMISSIONERS CAREY, MARSHALL AND WILLHOTT. ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS BOARD Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded b~ Commissioner Carey to appoint Tim Hubbard, Jerry Taylor, Don Cox, Car] Shy, Norman Weatherly and Carol Crumley to the EAB.
