Background: The Town M Chapel Hill's Parks entl Recreatlon Department has provitletl recreation entl leisure programs for senior citizens through hs New Generetion program. The New Generation program tlelivere a vadety of activities inclutling games, arts entl crafts classes, entl fieltl trips for senior chizens. The Town's Naw Generation program has operatetl in wortlination with the Orange County Department on Aging which publicizetl programming through the Senior Times entl provitletl space for adivihes in the Chapel Hill Senior Center entl Northsitla Human Services Caner. The Town of Chapel Hill's Parka entl Recreation Department used a permanent, full-time position to support the New Generation program as well as part time temporary steH. When the pertnenent position became vacant in FV 9], the Town of Chapel Hill re-assessed how it tlelivers recreational antl leisure programming for senior citizens. As a result of the assessment, the Town of Chapel Hill proposetl transferring the New Generation program to Orenge County and contrecting with the County to provitle this recreation antl leisure programming for senior citizens in the Town through the Chapel Hill end Northsitle Centers. The anachetl contract Cetween the Town and the Count' woultl continue the funding far the pannanent full time Senior Citizen Progrem Coortlinator position, temporery pan time help as neetled for special activities, equipment, and office supplies.
