Hillsboraugh 732 -8181 Chapel Hill 967 -9251 Mebane 227 -2031 Durham 688 -7331 PURPOSE. To consider amending the lease with JOCCA for space leased at the County - owned NoMSide space In Chapel Hill. BACKGROUND. Building A, one of three buildings located on the NoMnida campus, was previously occupied by Department on Aging (DOA), Social Services (DSS) and JOCCA. The primary administrative function of the Department on Aging was moved from Nis building to the Chapel Hill Senior Center in order to allay additional apace for the growth of DSS. DSS relocated all of their offices from this building to the Southern Human Services Center (SHSC) in March, 1998. As the Board may recall, the County committed to OPC Mental Health to allow their use of the building when the County completed ffm SHSC. However, budgetary constraints precluded the Inclusion of space far DOA administrative Offices and senior center, necessitating the continued use of the Northside facility. OPC Mental Health has completed plans for the renovation of approximately 4,000 square feet In the approximately 10,000 square foot building. A sketch of the proposed floor plan is attached Renovations fair this work are funded by OPC Mental Health. The remainder of the building will be used by DOA and JOCCA for offices and program space. The attached floor plan depicts the allocation of spew, which Is summarized below: • JOCCA will be allcatetl five offices for use by their administrative stag. It is our understanding that Administrative Staff from Chatham County will be relocated to this facility as space allows. • DOA space will include one staff office and three spaces for storage of program equipment for which Is presently stored at Northside and scattered between other DOA facilities. • One visiting office will be allocated for use by a variety of program related activities which may be on site regularly, but not daily. Examples include the wellness checks for blood pressure, cholesterol, tax advice for seniors, etc. • Both the DOA and JOCCA programs will jointly use the multi - purpose room, kitchen and the are and crafts room. The following work is either on going or scheduled to be completed. • Restroom renovation • Move the kitchen to me old artsk2fts room and the artslcrafls mom to the old conference room(in- progress)', • Cut new serving window between the new kitchen and the mufti - purpose room (completed) • Paint all program space (completed) (Nate'. Graduate students from ONC/Chapel Hill's School of Business dedicated their community service hours to paint this space.) • Re -tile program space • Replace fumiture(wmpleted) RECOMMENDATION.
