W ITNESSETH WHEREAS, the County and the University ltave historically cooperazed and worked jointly on imnmerable manor of canteen or mterert; and WHEREAS, Ilse Couvry and [he Usdversiry have entered into a Mutual Assissance Agreement dated April 2, 199}, and WHEREAS, cermin Univmity sporting events, such es the University's home football and basketball games, asd oNer events at We Snsdens Activities Center, such as ovicerts, bring fans and alumni to Chapel Hill and Orange County to enjoy the campus and visit Chapel Hill and Orange Cowry; and WHEREAS, Ne provision of adega&e xcsuity, trafF<dvection, and law errfomemem personnel at such home football and basketball games or other special events is a nmtter of mutual concern and interest so the University and slx Cowry; and WHEREAS, detailedjoiv[ and coopemtrve atmvgemrnts wiN respect m such home football and basketball games and special events will mutually benefit the University and dx Cowry; and WF~REAS, the County end Usdversiry desve to provide such cwpemrive xcuriry arravgemenss iv addidov m wY requests far assistance under Ne Mutual Aasistwce Agreemrnr, NOW THEREFORE, w costsidemsian ofthe pxmius and Ne mutual wvewnts and conditions set foM below, the County arW Ne University ogre as follows: 1. The Cowry agree so provide up ro fifteen (157 swam law enforcemem officers for each 1998 University home football game. 2. The County agrees to provide up ro fheen (l5) swom law errfomemem oRcers for eazh 1998-1999 University home men's vazsity basketball game. 1. The Cowry agrees to provide, if requested, up to ffteen (IS) swom law eNOrcemem officers for each 1998-1999 Uvivcsity special even at the Student Activities Centeq such as concerts. a. The Cowry agrees to keep records of Ne services vrovided to dae Uniuxrsi[u' under this contra[ and ro provide such records to [he G~dversiry upon request. 5. The fallowing services shall be provided by the Cowty's law enforcemem officers: vaffic dimniom security, emergency medical assisrance, crowd cnnvcl, patrol and surveillmce and othn law enforcemem duties requested by the University and relamd N<mto ("dse law ek'orcemrn[ services"). The law erd'orcemem services herewder shall also include protective patrol of dae event site and dnigwmd adjacent properties prior to, during and for a reasonable time after the end of Ne event 6. The Uriversity will provide trarispodation on campus and commwications equipmem to Ne Ccunry's law enorcement officers while they arc azsigned m convaaed defies for Ue Uriversiry. The Cowry shell provide all oNer equipment necessary to perfonv the law enforcemem urvices. The UNversiry shall pay the cosu oftravspoiudon and commurications equipmem which it provides for Ne Cowry's law eN'orccment officm. The officers providing the law enforcement services shall report to Kesan Smdium, Student Activities Center, or Neu odser work stetio~, at least two hours before the official starting time for Ne game or other special event for bdefng by Ne UWversity. The oRcers shall not be released fiom Nev respective assigrwents until dismissed by the Univeniry's Chief of Police or his/her desigvm. 12. All Couvry law enforcementortcers providing the law enorcement servicesm N<UWVersity shall be subject to the County's medical and hospimlieadon u¢mancq or Workers Comprnsation coverage. 13. The parties may ogee m law enforcement services for addinotW aWedc or special evevb N accordance wiN the temu of Nis contract. 10. The mntmct will be reviewed amtuWly no lazer than 1Wy 1, and may be rcnewe4 modified, or amended at that time, ar at my oNer time, upon the mutual written ageemmt of the paries. I5. This connect may be tertWvazed at any time by either party by giving 90 days notice to the oNer party in writing. I6.
