PURPOSE: To approve an Agreement between Orange County and the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for services to be performed during the
FY 99.
BACKGROUND: On October 7, 1997, the Board of Commissioners approved a
Worksharing Agreement between Orange County and the EEOC for a year. This was the
second year of such contractual relations between the parties, the first having been for a
partial year effective May 2, 1996. The Agreement between the parties provides for
reimbursement to Orange County for services rendered in the investigation of
jurisdictional employment discrimination cases; reimbursement for the intake and referral
to EEOC of non jurisdictional cases and reimbursement in the sum of $1,200 for Orange
County staff s attendance at EEOC sponsored, mandatory training.
For federal FY 97-98, the agreement provided for the payment from EEOC to Orange
County the sum of $21,950 which represented $20,000 for (40) cases @ $500 per; $750
for (15) intakes @ $50 per and $1,200 for training. For FY 98-99 the county expects to
receive $32,200 which represents (60) cases @ $500 per; $1,000 for (20) intakes @ $50
per and $1,200 for training.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the
agreement and authorize the Chair to sign the contract.
