HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES-2007-021 Resolution Recognizing Cable TV Advisory Committee Volunteers'1 ~5-a~o7-a2.1 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS 3 " ~ 7' a~o'y RESOLUTION ~ CABLE TV ADVISORY COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION WHEREAS, the Cable TV Citizens Advisory Committee was formed in December 1979 to recommend priorities for service options and customer standards to be considered in granting a cable TV franchise; and WHEREAS, Bob Gywnn, Michael Patrick, and Sharlene Pilkey served as citizen volunteers providing technical guidance and leadership to effectively meet the goals and objectives of the committee; and WHEREAS, throughout the difficult years, as names changed with the cable companies and the officials representing those companies, the committee members persevered to negotiate and position the best possible service for the people of Orange County as identified by the Board of Commissioners; and, WHEREAS, volunteers are an invaluable asset to Orange County departments and agencies and their service contributes to the cost effectiveness and efficiency of government operations; and, WHEREAS, the involvement of volunteers such as Mr. Gywnn, Mr. Patrick, and Ms. Pilkey have strengthened and reinforced the democratic process by contributing their time to help address community challenges such as faced within the rapidly changing telecommunications industry, NOW, THEREFORE, let it be resolved that the Orange County Board of Commissioners recognizes and sincerely thanks Bob Gywnn, Michael Patrick, and Sharlene Pilkey for their community spirit, dedicated service, and unrelenting commitment to the residents of Orange County by serving on and leading the Cable TV Advisory Committee.
