MINUTES
JULY 1, 1982
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on July 1, 1982, in a special
session at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) in the Conference Room of the Human Services Center,
300 West Tryon Street, Hillsborough, North Carolina.
j Commissioners Present: Chairman Richard E. Whitted, and Commissioners Norman
Gustaveson, Shirley E. Marshall and Don Willhoit.
Commissioners Absent: Commissioner Norman Walker.
A:
Damascus Fire District
The Clerk to the Board said she had received the Certification of the
Damascus Fire District Referendum held on June 29, 1982; 'the-referendum to
establish the fire district passed with 62 in favor of and 4 opposed to the
district. That Certification is on page of these Minutes.
B. Southern Triangle & Damascus

Fire Districts Contracts
Commissioner Marshall moved, seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson, to
approve contracts for service for Damascus Fire District (anal to set that tax
rate at $0.04/hundred) and the Southern Triangle Fire District with the North
Chatham Volunteer Fire Department. Vote: Ayes, 4; noes, 0.
C: Contract for IV-D

Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Marshall, to
approve the contract for the Child Support Enforcement Legal Services with
the firm of Coleman, Bernholz, Dickerson, Bernholz, Gledhill and Hargrave.
Vote: Ayes, 4; noes, 0.
D: CD-Rehab Contracts
Commissioner Marshall moved, seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson, to
approve the contracts for rehabilitation for units # 120, 83, and 8 to Mc
Duffie
Construction for the amounts of $9,180.00, $9,265.00, and $7,720.002 respectively.
There was some discussion about whether one contractor was receiving a dispro-
portionate share of the rehab contracts. The Manager replied that a study done
in November, 1982, showed that the contracts were fairly well spread out over

thirteen contractors. Vote: Ayes, 4; noes, 0.

With no further business before it, Commissioner Whitted declared the Board

meeting adjourned.
