Commissioner Barnes presided over the meting the purpose of which was a Board work session on.budget areas as indicated in the Minutes 3aelow. Mr. Fred Crabtree, Mr. F,ar7, McKee and Mr. John Forrest, representing the ~, Li~tt7-e River and orange Fire Districts, respectively, pres~.~ the Board with theix requested ;,~ rate and budget proposals. The Board discussed the budgets of those Fire Districts which had submitted them and also those Fire Districts which had no representatives at this ~t-;ng: __ The Board thanked the Fire Volunteers for their tires and efforts. Mr. Bobby Baker and Mr. Bob D'Amore presented the Board with the ~°-~Y.Metlical Services budget request. Mr. Baker noted that a large amount of the increase was due to personnel being funded for the entire year rather than ~ year. ~e F'inanc~ Director told the Board there was no revenue sheaf far this budget. Bath Dr. Sarah Dent and Bill Iessig sp~lse an favor of full fui-,ding for this budget. Ur. Dent said the medioal supplies were so de- pleted that I~7S could not handle a true emergency. NL . Mx•, B~ might, presented his budget to the Board and responded t~ questions. The Board asked that Sheriff Ithight please advertise vacancies in his department through the County • Personnel Office. The Sheriff told the Boaxrl of the mandated services he was required to p~Yovide with his personnel. 19~ :, ~' y; Sheriff Knight told tt~ Hoard he had bin unable to find same who would prepare a hot evening mea_1. for the prisoners; the Board suggested he e the costs of catering that meal with the ousts of hiring someone to cook it and supplying the fold. The Hoard took a ten m%nute break and xeeonvpned in the same rocxn. Ms. Carpenter, Chair of .the Board of Elections, grid Ms. Lloyd.
