valuation. Appropriation number two won18 refleot the appropriations
a^ determined at tonight~8 meeting and o a taX levy o! $1.20 por one
hundred dollar valuation. Tho second ~~~- would refleot the anticipated
ilifl revenue of $2$2,600 for the Doming fiscal year.
There being no further business to some before the Board the said
meeting was adjourned to meet again on Friday, July 23, 1971, at 8x00 o~alock
P.M. in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William
C. Ray, Henry 3. Walker, Ira A, Ward and C, Norman Walker.
Members Absent: None

THE 2SFTAOD OF DISTRIBUTION OF THS PROCEEDS WITSIN ORANGE COUNTY
WH~t8A8, pursuant to General Statutes 10§-1~66(b), and after
a public hearing held on July 22, 1971, after duo notiao thereof, the
Board of Commissioners of Oraog• County being of the opinion that
it xould be to the beat intsreat of the aitisena of said County to
impose and levy the sales and uss tax as authorised by lax, and
WHEEiBA3, ao sleotion has been held under the provisions of
General Statutes 10$-l~.6$ in which the tax has been defeated,
NOW, THRRHFORB,
BB IT RS30LVED by the Board of County Conssiasionere of Orange
County as folloxe: •
section 1. There is hereby imposed and levied within Orange
CountyT a one per Dent (l~) local Galen and use tax authorised by
Article 39, 3ubahapter VIII, Chapter 105 of the General 3tatutee
oP North Carolina. Tha tax hereby imposed and levied shall apply
to the a.me extent Gad aub~ect to the same iimitatioas as are set
forth is Seationa 105-1~b7 and 105-t}68.
Section 2. Collection of the tax by the North Carolina
Commissioner of Revenue, and liability therefor, shall begin and
continue on and after the first day of September, 1971.
Section 3. The net proceeds of the tax levied heroin shall
be distributed by the Commissioner oP Revenue to Orange County and
to each municipality herein upon a par capita basis to b• determined
in the manner sot forth in 3eation 10$~(~.72(a).
3eation 4. Thin ~~ shall beoouu effective upon its
adoption and a certified Dopy hereof shall be forrsarded to the
Horth Carolina CossAd.seionar of Revenue.
Adopted this 23rd day of Jnly, 1971.
