Project close out intentions are cited where a 1 ro'ect has been or is nearing g completion. Budgetary summaries have been reconciled with audited account balances through MUNIS, the county's financial software. Should you have questions, please contact me directly at (919) 245-2052 or Jeff Thompson at (919) 245-2058. 2 Project## 70043: Piedmont Food & Agricultural P Center The Piedmont Food and Agricultural Facili ty will provide kitchen and food processing working environments for citizens of the Orange, Alamance, Chatham & Durham county area. The facility will serve as a resource for agricultural producers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses interested in processing agricultural products for the local markets. The facility will be located in the former OE Enterprises Building on Valley Forge Road. The design and construction documents are complete. Bids will be opened on April 1 St, 2010.The schematic n desi process for the facility will continue. � � y Committed and received grant funds make up the available budget for this project. Assuming that the bid process yields a successful qualified bidder within the available budget, the project will begin in June, 2010 and will be scheduled for completion in early winter of 2010. Project Budget $190989000 Expense $62,974 Encumbered $41,626 Project Balance $993,400 3 Project # 30035: Link Government Services Center Upfit Phase1 of this project was completed in the fall of 2009. Offices for the Clerk of County Commissioners, County Manager, County Attorney, Financial Services and Human Resources are fully functional in the building. Phase 2 of the project will see the creation of a permanent Board of Commissioners meeting facility on the lower level, as well as renovation of the lower level restroom facilities. Design for Phase 2 is currently underway, including site visits to County Commissioners' chambers in other Counties. The design is scheduled to be complete by early June. Completion is scheduled for December, 2010. The designer is Corley, Redfoot, Zack Architects of Chapel Hill, NC. Pro'ect Bud et $1,100,000 -Expense $479,361 Encumbered $90,598 Pro'ect Balance $530,041 Project #77700: Whiffed Building Renovations (Health Department) The Whiffed Building will be undergoing interior renovations intended to update and streamline the Health Department operations within the facility. These renovations are now in schematic design phase. Capital Project funds are being requested in the Fiscal Year 2010-11 CIP process. The Designer is Corley, Redfoot, Zack Architects of Chapel Hill, NC. This base station will take the place of 1914 New Hope Church P Road. This phase will be completed in March of 2010. Phase 2 of the project will consist of the design and renovation of the site to better house ambulance and other Emergency Services vehicles to be based at this location. This phase should be completed the early summer of 2010. The designer is Corley, Redfoot, Zack of Chapel Hill, NC. Orange Count is i Y acting as its own General Contractor for the work. Project Budget $1257000 Ex ense $48,000 Encumbered $0 Project Balance $77,000 Project## 14035: Animal.Services Facility The Orange County Animal Services Facility opened to serve its residents in June of 2009. The 25,000 square foot facility consolidates the Animal Shelter, Animal Control and Administrative Divisions of the Animal Services Department. Staff is negotiating the final pay application with the Construction Manager at Risk and is preparing the facility operations for the busy spring intake season. Project close out during FY.2011 is anticipated. The designer is Dixon Friedlein Architects of Chapel Hill, NC; the General Contractor is Clancy & Theys Construction of Raleigh, NC. Project Budget $9,'110,287 Ex ense $970661958 Encumbered $82,777 Project Balance $25,552 5 Project # 7 Central Orange Senior Center; Adult Day Health Care Facility; Triangle Sportsplex The Central Orange Senior Center and Adult Day Health Care Facility opened in January of 2009. The Triangle Sportsplex opened in late spring of 2009. All of these facilities are fully operational and serving the residents of Orange County. Staff is working toward the installation of permanent signage, an energy saving low emissivity ceiling for the ice rink, and high efficiency replacement lighting for the rink and pool facilities. Encumbrances for these items are estimated at approximately $162,000. Project close out during FY 2011 is anticipated. The designer is Corley, Redfoot, Zack Architects of Chapel Hill, NC; the General Contractor is Resolute Building Company of Chapel Hill, NC. The Justice Facility renovation project is scheduled for completion in April of p P 2010. Final inspections and finishes are being applied to the renovation areas of the project. Court is scheduled to re-occupy Mural Courtroom in May of 2010. Next month, Orange County will also seek Hillsborough's approval of the Justice pP Parking plan for the facility. Gateway (Register of Deeds and Tax Administration) opened in February of 2008. (Nest Campus Office Building (Asset Management & Purchasing . . g Services, Information Technologies, Planning and Inspections, Economic Development, and Environmental Health) opened in November of 2009. The Orange county Library opened in January of 2010. Staff is working with Hillsborough on its permanent wayfnding signage installation. Project close out in FY 2011 is anticipated. The designer is Brockwell &Associates of Durham, NC; the Construction Manager at Risk is Telesis Construction Management of Hillsborough, NC. Project Bud et $25,874,000 Expense $259572,751 Encumbered $226,312 Project Balance $74,937 7 Project #10037: Emergency Services Facility-570 Meadowlands Road The Emergency Management Facility opened and became fully operational in the spring of 2009. Remaining work includes the installation of impact resistant window screening installation and site storage improvement measures. Estimated encumbrances for these items total $45,000. Project close out during FY 2011 is anticipated. The designer is Corley, Redfoot, Zack Architects of Chapel Hill, NC; the General Contractor is Resolute Building Company of Chapel Hill, NC. Project Bud et $3,531,714 Expense $3,456,633 Encumbered $14,968 Project Balance $60,113 Project #70040: Department of Social Services Orange County Department of Social Services occupied the former Wal-Mart facility in the Hillsborough.Commons Shopping Center in November of 2009 for its annual Toys for Tots program. Staff occupied the facility in January, 2010 and is fully functional for the residents of Orange County. - Project close out in FY 2011 is anticipated. Rough grading and storm infrastructure 'phases are . . in progress at this time. The extremely wet winter of 2009-10 has hampered . p progress, but not in a manner that is yielding unmanageable conditions. The spring months will see an advance of this grading phase and the installation. of the shelter foundation.
