MINUTES ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS JUNE 29 - 30, 1979 .....~ The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session in the Commissioners Room, Orange County Courthouse, in Hillsborough, North Carolina, at a meeting which began at 6:00 p.m. on June ;?:9~, 1979 and continued on through June .30;.1979. Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, and forranissioners Norman Gustaveson, pon Willhoit and Anne Barnes. Commissioner Norman Walker was absent. Upon motion by Commissioner Barnes, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit, the Board moved into executive session to discuss a personnel matter. Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. Thereafter, the Chairman recessed the Board of Commissioners meeting and reconvened the Board of Equalization and Review. Agenda Item 1: Request_af Honeyw,eli Information Systems Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit, the Board accept the recommendation of the County Attorney to release the tax claim of Honeywell Information Systems as provided in G5 105-381. Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. For copy of the County Attorney's recommendation, see page 552 of this book. All other reference materials relating to this matter are incorporated herein by reference and are in the "Honeywell Information Systems" file in the office of the Clerk to the Board. Upon motion of•Commissioner Barnes, seconded 6y Commissioner Willhoit, the Board of Equalization and Review for 1979 tax was adjourned. Uote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. The Orange County Board of Commissioners then reconvened and resumed budget deliberations on the County's 1979-80 budget. Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, to approve the Manager's recommended budget for 1979-1980, adding $502,140 ($284,283 for schools and $217,857 far other programs), _~~s~,} l:ivi.:v ~, which would increase the ad valorem tax rate by 6 cents (4.85¢ for schools and 1.15¢ for county programs); set the per pupil allocation at $440 and increase the district supplemental tax by 1 z tents. Vote: ayes, Commissioners Willhoit, Barnes and Whitted; noes, Commissioner Gustaveson. For copy of the budget ordinance, see page 553 of this book.
