ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MAY 31, 1979
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on
Thursday, May 31, 1979, at 7:30 p.m., in the Lincoln Center, on Merritt
Mill Road in Chapel Hill, North Carolina-
Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman,
and Commissioners Norman Walker, Norman Gustaveson, Anne Barnes and
Don Willhoit.
The purpose of the meeting was to a1Tow the Board of Commissioners
and members of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board an opportunity to
hold a work session to discuss the Chapel Hill-Carrboro city school system's
1979-80 current expense budget ,'capital outlay budget for 1979-80 and
a five year capital outlay budget.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board members present: Ms. Phyllis
Sockwell, Chairperson, and Mr. Ed Caldwell, Ms. Marge Hill, Mr. Jim Riddle
and Ms. Verla Insko.
Ms. Sockwell, Dr. Robert Hanes and Ms. Carol Freeman reviewed the
budgets and answered questions raised by the Board of Commissioners.
The Board of Commissioners took no official action during this
work session.
At the end of the work session, Commissioner Walker moved,
seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson, the meeting be adjourned.
Vote: ayes, 5; noes, D.
