JANUARY 23, 1979
The Board of County Commissioners met in special session on Tuesday,

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss. goala. and nr.iori•ties of=th.e: -.-. .- _ ._.
Commission for Women and to receive the Commissioner's help in defining a
job description for the Coordinator's position.
Members of the Commission far Wamen present: Ms. Debbie Lee,
~ Chairperson; Ms. April Hart; Ms. Harriet Hitt; and Ms. Jennifer Winnard.
~ Ms. Lee identified the Gomm155'fOn'5 goals as follows:
f 1) Identify the status of women; 2) Disseminate information about women;
3) Serve as an advisory board to the County Commissioners; 4) Increase

! public understanding of women's needs and abilities; and 5) Act as a
referral center for information about assisting services.
Ms. Lee requested the Commissioners thoughts on the job description
~ for the Coordinator's position and the possibilities for future funding.
~ Commissioner Gustaveson sees the Coordinator as an arm to the
Commission for Women with the Commission setting goals and policies and
((! the Coordinator carrying them out. He sees the position as a high-1eve1
administrative secretarial position. He sees the Coordinator's position
as a temporary,CETA funded position.
Commissioner Walker sees the Coordinator as a clerk functioning under
- the County Manager's supervision.
Commissioner Barnes said the Board is trying to observe the President's
request to stay within a 7 percent (7~) budget, which wit) make funding ne-v
things difficult.
Commissioner Willhoit sees the responsibilities of the Coordinator
on an administrative assistant level and the administrative position as a
training support position.

The County Manager said the county uses the State Job Classification
Job Description system and funding available for the Coordinator's position
will depend on the CETA budget.
Cormnissioner Gustaveson suggested reviewing and re-writing parts
of the Commission's By-Laws to give the Commission some continuity. He
suggested the possibility of longer terms with the option for re-appointment,
