ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ~'
MONDAY, JUNE 19, 1978
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Monday,
June 19, 1978 at 7:30 p.m., in the District courtzvom of the
conductoaspubliclhearpngugo considerraorezoning requestg fas to
Curtis Bane.
Commissioners present were Chairman Richard Tiahittedr members
Jan Pinney, Donald Willhoit and Norman Walker.
Commissioner p7arman'Gustaveson was absent.
Planning Board members present were Vice Chairperson Marilyn
Riddle, Jean Anderson, Lindsey Efland, John Scarlett, Art Cleary,
Col. William Breeze and Hazel Lunsfard.
Chairman Whitted called the meeting to order and stated the
meeting had been called to hear the rezoning request of Curtis
Bane to rezone 105 acres of land located in Eno Township from
residential to general commercial.
Mr. Whitted asked Eddie Kirk of the Planning staff to present
the request to the Boards.
Mr. Kirk stated the property is located in Eno Township between
Interstate Highway $5 and Old Highway No. 10: In the general
area of this property are two mobile home parks, businesses of
general commercial nature and two ss6de~~sion5. The N. C.
Railroad has an easement near the p p Y•
Chairman Whitted asked Mr. Bane if he had any comment to
make regarding the request.
Mr. Bane stated that about six years ago pe employedTheixultants

Mr. Bane stated he had decided instead to use the p p Y
commercial. He spoke of the advantage of having the railroad run
near by and the accessibility to I-85. He stated the land was too
low far residential use. The land is ideally located between
Hillsborough, Durham and Chapel Hill and he feels a commercial
use of the property will bring in additional revenue for the
County. He stated that he hoped to locate a warehouse for a non
manufacturing type business.
Chairman Whitted asked if anyone was present to speak in favor
of the rezoning request. Mr. G. R. Flowers, stated he felt the land
should be zoned commercial and that Orange County needs industry to
help with the County taxes. He stated the property was not good

The Chairman asked if anyone wished to speak against the rezoning
request. No one came forth.
The Chairman declared the public hearing adjourned.
