PURPOSE: To present checks to local organizations receiving 2009 Orange County Arts
Grants.
BACKGROUND: The Orange County Arts Commission grants funds to local nonprofit
organizations doing art-related programming from funds received from state government
through the Grassroots Arts Program of the North Carolina Arts Council. Funds are distributed
for arts programming in all arts disciplines. Each grant recipient must match the grant amount in
order to receive funding.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: A total of $32,437 in state funds is being awarded for arts programming
provided by outside organizations. This action represents apass-through of state funds and has
no financial impact on Orange County.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Interim Manager recommends that the Board acknowledge the
local recipients of the awards during the September 15, 2009 meeting with the presentation of
checks by the Board Chair.
