SUBJECT: SCHOOL BUDGETS
At the work session on February 15 we continued our discussion of
Board of Commissioners goals. At that meeting we asked you to come back
with a report on how much of the County budget we can expect to spend on
schools. We indicated a desire to find a way, for future years, to establish an
annual appropriation target that the schools could then work within.
We would appreciate information from staff prior to the March 31
joint meeting with the school boards on some approaches that could be
considered for future years.

SUBJECT: BUDGET SCENARIOS
As part of the Manager's recommended budget, I would like to
recommend that we request the Manager to develop various scenarios that
would include the following information:
• budget with a zero tax increase
• budget with aone-cent tax increase
• budget with atwo-cent tax increase
• budget with athree-cent tax increase
This would be a part of the Manager's recommended budget that
is distributed in late May.
