PURPOSE: To proclaim the: week of April 18 - 24, 1999 as `.`Orange County Government Week"
and- endorse the activities planned during the week.
BACKGROUND: The National Association of Counties and- the North. Carolina Association of
County .Commissioners encourage local governments to celebrate County Government Week in an
effort to educate,citizens about county government.
The attached Calendaz of Events (Attachment I) provides an overview of planned activities to be
held during this week. Since these activities will provide an increased awazeness of government
operations, it is recommended that Orange County proclaim the week of April 18 - 24, 1999 as
"County Government Week". A proclamation is provided as Attachment II.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATON(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopts the proclamation and
endorses the planned activities.
