Following is information regarding the route: In May 2008, the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro (DCHC) Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) approved Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) funds for Chapel Hill Transit to expand its HS Route (serving Chapel Hill High School). The expanded route will introduce new service to the Rogers Road community and midday service throughout the route. Chapel Hill Transit hopes to have all funding contracts finalized in time to start service in August 2009. The JARC funds are provided as a reimbursement by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Since the City of Durham is the designated recipient of the JARC funds, the City must submit the grant in TEAM, which is the electronic awards system for FTA. Once the grant is approved and Chapel Hill has implemented the service, the City of Durham will receive the funds and can reimburse Chapel Hill Transit for its expenses. Durham has applied for the grant in TEAM, and expects FTA to review it within the next month. Durham will send Chapel Hill Transit an award notice when the application has been approved by FTA and the funds are obligated.
