PURPOSE: To present to the Board of Commissioners the first Annual Community Report of
the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness.
BACKGROUND: The Orange County 10 Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness was
approved by the elected boards of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and Hillsborough in the late spring of
2007. The Plan has five main goals that include: reducing chronic homelessness; increasing
employment; preventing homelessness; increasing access to services; and increasing public
participation.
The first Annual Community Report titled "Homecoming" outlines the progress that has been
achieved from plan adoption to December 2008. Commissioner Bernadette Pelissier is the
County Commissioner Representative to the Partnership to End Homelessness and will provide
highlights of the Annual Report.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board receive the Annual Community
Report of the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness as information.
