BACKGROUND: The Clerk's office has received recommendations from the Commission for Women for the reappointment of Rae Buckley and Shannon Jackson. If reappointed Ms. Buckley and Ms. Jackson will be serving their first full term ending 6/30/2012. Ms. Buckley and Ms. Jackson have expressed their desire to continue to serve as a member of the Commission for Women. The Orange County Commission for Women (CFW) held a meeting on Thursday, May 14, 2009, and one of the actions taken by the CFW was to make a recommendation for reappointment to the CFW of Rae Buckley and Shannon Jackson. Thus, the CFW hereby requests that the Board of County Commissioners consider Rae Buckley and Shannon Jackson for reappointment to the CFW. The Commission for Women is committed to increasing the diversity of Commission members and committed to preserving a geographical balance of representation whenever possible. In addition, all of the applicants have voiced an active interest in advocating for women, improving the quality of life for women in Orange County and a willingness and ability to attend the Commission's meetings and participate in its projects.
