Action Agen a Item No. SUBJECT: Defibrillator Maintenance and Su art Contract DEPARTMENT: Fr~ergency Services ~ FMS PUBLIC I-I~ARING. ~YIN~ Na ATTACHMENT~S~: ~ INFORMATION CONTACT: bent McKenzie, 9482454 2447 Service Contract and [nventory PURPOSE: To consider entering into a continuation contractfor annual maintenance and support of equipment used as part of the County's Emergency Medics[ preparedness and response activities. , BACKGROUND. grange County has contracted for annual preventive maintenance and emergency support for cardiac monitors and defibrillators in use throughout the County organization. Cardiac monitor--defibrillators are used daily by paramedics in the Emergency Medical Services Division.. Caunty~owned automatic external defibrillators ~AFDs} have been provided to a[1 County fire departments as part of the Emergency Medical Services System. Some municipal and County fire departments have purchased additions[ AFDs to augment the Count Emergency Medical Services response. There are also County~owned AFDs in various Y County facilities, including the senior centers, l~ea[th Department, Recreation and Parks, and the SportsP[ex. All medics[ equipment utilized as part of sn Emergency Medical Services system is required to have annual performance evaluation and preventive maintenance according to the rules and regulations of the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services. In prior years, the cost for the annual service contract has fallen below the threshold set by the Board of County Commissioners for direct action and has been reviewed and approved by the County Director of purchasing and Centro! Services. The contract cost has increased this year because of the expiration of the warranty period on the fourteen Lifepak 2 Monitor Def`[bil[atorsthst are used by the County's [nitia! Response Paramedics. FINANCIAL. IMPACT: Funding in the amount of $2,473.28 has been requested in the 244~'~48 operating budget to coverthe expense of this maintenance contract.
