PURPOSE: To consider authorizing a contract with Shaw Coating of Durham for repainting of
the interior of the Jail Annex ~~997 addition}.
BACKGROUND: An approximately ?,536 gross square foot Jail addition was constructed and
occupied in the fiall of ~ 99?. other than minor touch ups and repairs, the interior surraces have
not been repainted since occupancy. The Purchasing Department issued a bid document which
closed June ~~, 200? for repainting of the approximately 38,000 square feet of paintable
surfaces, including walls, ceilings, handrails, etc. Bids were received from four contractors. A
summary of bids received is presented as Table .

FINANCIAL IMPACT: Adequate funds are available in the jail capital account fior completion of
this work. .
RECOMMENDATION~S~: The Manager recommends that the Board authorize the Purchasing
Director to execute a contract with Shaw Coatings in the amount of $24,52 far repainting the
interior ofithe orange County Jail Annex.
