Peat, Marwick and Mitchell - 3 votes.
The Chairman then said the Board would consider a schedule of budget hearings and
asked the members to suggest the names of agencies they would like to Bear. The
agencies named were the Sheriff, Register of Deeds, Sanitation, Veterans Service
Office, Rescue Squads, Recreation, Schogls, Mental Health, Social Services, District
Health, Fire Districts and Libraries.
Commissioner Norman 'Walker then moved that the Recreation Study Committee be
invited to attend the discussion of the budget of the Recreation Department.
This motion died for lack of a second.
Commissioner Jan Pinney suggested a letter be sent to this committee advising
the members that their work is completed. Commissioner Whitted suggested this
action be delayed pending a discussion with the Recreation Director.
The Chairman then set the fallowing schedule of hearings. All meetings would
be convened at 7: 30.

Thursday, June 12th
The meeting was then adjourned.

BOARD OF COMMxSSIONERS
May 28, 1975
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met Wednesday, May 28, 1975, at 7:30 p.m.,
in the Commissioners' Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, N. C,
Members present: Chairman Flora Garrett, Commissioners Norm Gustaveson,
Jan Pinney, Norman Walker and Richard Whitted.
Members absent: Ngne.
S. M. Gattis, County Administrator; Neal Evans, County Fiscal Officer; and Betty
June Hayes, Clerk to the Board, were also present,
This meeting was held for the purpose of zeviewing the 1975-1976 Budget of the
Sanitation Department, the Sheriff Uepartment, the Jail, and the Register of Deeds
Office.
Each Department and Office reviewed their budget requests.
The Sheriff was authorized to procede with the establishing of the position of
Records Clerk.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
