THE MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
December 30, 1974
The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday,
December 30th, 1974 at 8:00 P.M,, in the commissioners Room in Hillsborough, N. C.
Members Present: Chairman, Flora Garrett, Commissioners, Norm_Gustaveson,
Jan Pinney, Norman Walker, and Richard E. Whitted.
Members Absent: None.
S. M. Gattis, County Administrator, was also present.
This meeting was held for the purpose of joining wiCh the newly appointed
Task Force on Community Development and hearing Mark Burnham of the Region J
Council of Governments discuss some of the more important aspects of the
Community Development Program Act.
At th_e conclusion of Mr. Burnham's presentation Chairman Garrett spoke
directly to the members of the Task Force and outlined the job the County
commissioners were asking this group to undertake. In ten days they were
going tq have to develop the "shopping list" of ideas that would go into the
Community Development Program for rural Orange County, Similiar tasks forces
were operating in Carrboro and Hillsborough to develop ideas that would relate to
those communities.

operate within.
January 10, 1975: Completion of Shopping List.
January 17, 1975: Cost analysis of ideas on Shopping List.
January 22, 1975: Draft of priorities.
January 29, 1975: Completion of local review of ideas.
February 5, 1975: Delivery of pre-application to HUD in Greensboro.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned.
