PURPOSE: To consider reappointing Ginger Rolfe as Orange County Tax Collector for a two yeaz
term, effective July 1, 1999.
BACKGROUND: Chapter 105-349 of the North Carolina General Statutes requires the Boazd of
County Commissioners to appoint a tax collector "for a term to be determined by the governing
boazd". Orange County's practice has been to make appointments to the office of Tax Collector for
two year terms. Ms. Ginger Rolfe was originally appointed Tax Collector for the two yeaz period
July 1, 1995 -June 30, 1997, and reappointed for the period July 1, 1997 -June 30, 1999.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Boazd reappoint Ginger Rolfe as
Orange County Tax Collector for a period of two years, effective July 1, 1999.
