HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda - 01-29-2009 - Attachment 7 `1 Attachment 7 To: Laura Blackmon, County Manager From: Donna Cofh*y, Budget Director Subject: Response to NCACC Request for Possible Economic Stimulus Projects Date: January 14, 2009 Below is the list of possible economic stimulus projects I submitted to Rebecca Troutman from the NCACC on December 19, 2008. You may recall Rebecca's call for this item was in answer to a request from Governor Perdue, and there was less than a twenty four hour period for counties pull their lists together. The guidance provided by the Association was lean and basically confined to "shovel ready projects". Rebecca supplied a uniform template for counties to complete. Using the recommended FY 2009-19 Schools and County Capital Investment Plan as a guide, I compiled the following list. Total Estimated Costs School Construction $34'000'000 Water/Waste Water Projects $3,500.000 Court facilities $0 Jails & Public Safety Facilities $1.200.000 Other County Buildings $52'950'000 Recreation Facilities $17.130'000 Broadband Deployment $0 Green Infrastructure Projects (wind, solar, $0 etc.) ADA compliance $550'000 Other(explain) County Telephone System $1'000'000 Property Information Management -2'500.000 System To my knowledge, the specifics of a possible federal economic stimulus package have not been defined at this point. Tharmfore, it is difficult to offer further information regarding which projects may or may not be eligible for federal funding. Assistant County Manager Willie Best has convened a work group of a number department heads to work through additional details and ^. possible additional projects that might be eligible for future monies. The next meeting of the work group is scheduled for later this month. We will keep you and the Board apprised of our progress and share information as we move through the process.
