Subject: Response to NCACC Request for Possible Economic Stimulus Projects

Below is the list of possible economic stimulus projects I submitted to Rebecca Troutman from
the NCACC on December 19, 2008. You may recall Rebecca's call for this item was in answer to
a request from Governor Perdue, and there was less than a twenty four hour period for counties
pull their lists together.
The guidance provided by the Association was lean and basically confined to "shovel ready
projects". Rebecca supplied a uniform template for counties to complete. Using the
recommended FY 2009-19 Schools and County Capital Investment Plan as a guide, I compiled
the following list.

To my knowledge, the specifics of a possible federal economic stimulus package have not been
defined at this point. Tharmfore, it is difficult to offer further information regarding which projects
may or may not be eligible for federal funding. Assistant County Manager Willie Best has
convened a work group of a number department heads to work through additional details and

possible additional projects that might be eligible for future monies. The next meeting of the work
group is scheduled for later this month. We will keep you and the Board apprised of our progress
and share information as we move through the process.
