BACKGROUND: The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's Housing Rehabilitation Program. Sealed bids were solicited from participating contractors on June 10, 1999. The informal bidding process is governed by the North Carolina General Statues §143-131 and does not require a minimum number of bids. Bid results are attached. Present program procedures provide that housing rehabilitation contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this program is provided by the HOME Investment Partnership Program. Remove the old furnace. KITCHEN: 1. Install a deadbolt and lockset to be keyed the same. Install a peephole. 2. Remove the existing cabinets. Install factory finish cabinets with wood fronts. Insta1142" wall cabinets over the sink. Install same lineal footage as the existing cabinets. Install a rolled backsplash, formica counter top. 3. Install 1/a inch Juan plywood. Prepaze the plywood for -vinyl. Install roll vinyl floor covering, metal trim and shoemold. Vinyl allowance to be $14/ yard. 4. Paint the ceiling with ceiling white latex paint. Install lh inch sheetrock on the ceiling. Tape and finish the sheetrock smooth. 5. Install colonail style baseboard. HALL: 1. Remove the floor and ceiling covering to the joists. 2. Install i/s inch CD plywood and S/8 inch plywood on the floor. 3. Install'/s inch sheetrock on the ceiling. Tape and finish the sheetrock smooth. 4. Install colonial style baseboard. HALL BATH: 1. Remove the ceiling texture, the wall covering, and window. 2. Install MR sheetrock on the inside of the bath and regular sheetrock on the hall side of the window. Install'/z inch CD plywood and 5/8 CD inch plywood. 2. Install colonial style baseboard. 3. Remove the ceiling texture. Retape the ceiling. Prepare the ceiling for paint. 4. Install a six panel, wood door and privacy lockset. FRONT HALLWAY TO BATH: 1. Reframe the door fora 3-0 door unit. Install a 3-0 door Unit and privacy lockset. 2. Install a 36 inch grab bar on the left hand wall. Anchor securely. FRONT BATH: 1. Remove the ceiling tile. Install lh inch sheetrock on the ceiling. Tape and finish the sheetrock smooth. 15 2. Remove the exisitng floor covering to the subfloor. Insta115/8 inch CD plywood. 3. Install colonial style baseboazd. 4. Install a five piece accessory kit to include to towel bazs, tumbler holder, soap dish and paper holder. 5. Install a transfer seat. 6. Remove the existing door unit. Install a 36 inch cased opening. RIGHT/MIDDLE BEDROOM: 1. Remove the existing ceiling tile. Install 12x 12 ceiling tile. Install 13/4 inch bed mold. 2. Frame in the cased opening to the hall. Install matching Sheetrock. Tape and finish the sheetrock smooth. PLUMBING: 1. Install a seven inch, double bowl, aluminum sink with p-trap assembly, supply lines and cutoffs. 2. Install a handicapp commode, supply line and cutoff in the front bath and regular commode, supply line and cutoff in the rear bath. 3. Install new washerless faucets on the kitchen sink, vanity, and tubs. 4. Install a washing machine box in the wall in the kitchen. 4. Install a 19 inch vanity in reaz bath. Reinstall the pedestal sink in the front bath. 3. Insta113/a inch pipe to the pressure relief valve on the hot water heater. 16 ELECTRIC: 1. Install a 150 amp service in the kitchen. Install a mast and weatherhead. 2. Install new fixtures at each entrance and in each room. Including a switch and fixture in the hallway to the front bath. 3. Install GFT outlets in the kitchen and bath. 4. Replace the switch in the bath. 5. Install an exhaust fan in the baths. Vent the fans to the exterior. 6. Install washer and dryer connections. 7.
