HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19731204MINT]TES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD] OF COMMISSIONERS December 4, 1973 The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in the Cosrsnissionera Room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough at 7:30 o~cloak P. M, on Tuesday, December 4, 1973 in special session. Members Present: Chairman C. Norman Walker and Commissioners Henry S, Walker, Flora Garrett, Richard E. Whined and Melvin Whitfield. PIembers Absent: Ilona Mr. W, C, Ray.and Dr. R, ~. Murphy appeared to continue discussion of the purchase of approximately one and one-half acres of land on Cameron Street from the County. After a lengthy discussion of the proposed boundaries of the tract they were interested in, Dr. IRurphy made an offer of $18,000 Sor the property. The Board of Cammisaionars agreed to give the offer its consideration. To complete two items of business listed an the agenda of the December 3rd meeting Commissioner Henry S~ Walker moved the County net release the late list penalty of Eugene Grivsky and Henry Landsberger. Commissioner Richard $. Whitted offered a second to the motion. Chairmari..Norman Walker called.for a vote on the motion. All members noted ays. The Soard briefly continued its discussion of the Federal Flood Insurance Program. No action was taken on the proposal to come under the provisions of this program. The Soard directed the County Administrator to write Dr. Murphy and reaffirm its position of not accepting less than X15,000 per acre for the property in question and to limit the amount of property to be purchased to not more than one and one-half acres. These being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourried.as a Board of Commissioners.
